Many families trying to adopt from Ukraine are getting very emotionally tired. I know that I would be. Ukrainian adoption used to be more predictable for families. They could be completed from start to finish within a year. There are people waiting for an appointment who were registed in Feb 2006.


Current rumor is that the SDA will open at the end of June.

Here are some of the news stories that I am reading....


Ukraine's 22nd International Family Congress will be held from May 9 to 11 in Kyiv. The theme is "Family - General Concern" or ""The Family, a Community of Love". It depends on which article you read. But the focus is helping families in crisis/poverty. Christan, Protestant, Muslim and Jewish leaders will be part of the conference.

My theme recently was Ukrainian institutional uncertainity. Here is an interesting article.

Earlier, the Ukrainian president confessed that it is difficult for Ukraine to exist between East and West. He requested the EU to guarantee open way for Ukraine’s joining it. As REGNUM informed earlier, the president stressed that “Ukraine may not stay in the current zone of uncertainty.”

New Ukrainian Ambassador, William Taylor, is nominated. Now he just has to be approved. He served on the "Quartet Special Envoy for Disengagement in Jerusalem". Probably worked for with or for James Wolfensohn. He also worked on Reconstruction in Iraq.

And here is Terri and Chris' Ukrainian adoption timeline. They are redoing some of their expired paperwork. Because Ukrainian adoptions are shutdown and not expected to open for another month many adoptive families are redoing their paperwork.


All the paperwork within a dossier expires 1 year after the issue date according to Ukrainian regulations.
