The Korespondent Journal created this richest Ukrainian list. I cannot find an on-line link to this story. I got this information via The Action Ukraine Report.

Continuing the list... Here are the 9th and 10th richest Ukrainians.

9. Oleksii Martynov

Korespondent estimates his assets at USD 1.4 billion.

I cannot find a single thing about him via google. The man keeps a low profile. Or the information is only available via Russian language web sites.

10. Valerii Khoroshkovskyi

Korespondent estimates his assets at USD 930 million.

He is 36 years old.

1998

Valerii Khoroshkovskyi at age 28 is already a successful businessman, a lawyer and a consultant to Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers. He is completing a doctorate in economics, has written three books, is married and has two children.

So what does a 20-something Ukrainian success story do for a new challenge? Run for a seat in the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada, of course, probably one of the world's most controversy-filled, chaotic legislative bodies.

"This is a choice I made consciously. I believe that young people, if they have had some success, should share it," said Mr. Khoroshkovskyi. "It is said that if something works for you, why not make it work in a larger circle?"

Mr. Khoroshkovskyi is running for a seat in the Verkhovna Rada from the Krasnoperekopsk 9th district in Crimea, one in a field of 19 candidates. He is the president of Merx International, a corporation that he started while still studying at Kyiv State University in 1994. Initially specializing in thermoplastic injection, the company has expanded into furniture manufacturing, food processing and finance.

2004

Minister of the Economy and European Integration Valerii Khoroshkovskyi, the political boy wonder who became a national deputy at 29 and a Cabinet minister at 33, resigned his post on January 3, citing his inability to work in the current government.

Mr. Khoroshkovskyi blamed First Vice Prime Minister Mykola Azarov, who also holds the post of finance minister, with shackling his ability to work successfully by forcing all the government ministries to concentrate their efforts on fulfilling budget requirements rather than on the development of longer term strategies and goals.
