The Life2Orphans is a good organization to work with if you are looking to ship boxes/letters to a specific orphanage or if you want to help Ukrainian orphanages. They have many different projects going on at the same time.
Here is a link to my blog on their "Project Empty Orphanage".
The Vice-President of the organization is Lynn Kolber. She recently visited the Mykolaivka Internat and came back with 4 Hand carved and Handcrafted wooden items. They are beautiful and they are being sold to the highest bidder.
If you aren't registered with eBay and are interested in bidding, sign up through www.igive.com. If you register and place a bid within 30 days, Life2orphans will get a $4.80 donation.

When children leave (age out of the system) the orphanage at 16 or 17 years of age, many leave with just the clothing on their back. Read the Life2Orphans blog (www.life2orphans.blog-city.com) entry on the "Mykolaivka Internat: Graduation Project Update". They are trying to make sure every child leaves the orphanage with items like cookware, towels and special letter of congratulations and encouragement.
I was in Ukraine for about 3 weeks while I was adopting my darling daughter. I got to met children of different ages in the orphanage system. The older children (10 years and older) had a very strong awareness that they would never be adopted and had to plan their own future out. Can you image being a 10 year old child and being certain that no one on the planet cares about you?
