WRISTBANDS...........
The
Disabled & Vulnerable Orphans of Ukraine (DVOU) is a non-profit foundation that was founded around 2000.
Lillian Horodysky (Founder and Executive Director) is a first generation American. And she has very strong ties to Ukraine.
Her parents are from Ukraine. She speaks fluent Ukrainian. She is connected to families who adopted from Ukraine. And she lived and worked in Kyiv. I know her only through email, but she is a very pleasant person.
She became aware of the circumstances faced by disabled orphans and started DVOU to help them.
Orphans with special needs are commonly not provided the physical, intellectual or emotional stimulation essential for healthy development.
Causes for this include understaffing, lack of training or staff disinterest. Though some children are resilient, most develop physical, language and behavioral problems, such as the inability to sit or walk, speech delays, attachment disorders and psychological disturbances.
“One of our goals is to relieve and prevent such after-effects by providing assistance through programs supporting personnel and adding volunteers,” says Horodysky.

FRIENDS OF SVIETA........
Pascal (a Swiss citzen) adopted his darling daughter, Svieta from Ukraine. When he returned home he started a charity called "
Les Amis de Svieta".
The goals of this charity are:
- Help children suffering from severe physical disease and requiring costly treatments in orphanages from the Nikolaiev [also known as Mykolayiv] district in Ukraine.
- To the extent where one or the other orphanage from the Nikolaiev district has urgent material needs preventing children to have a "normal" life, the association is ready to help them selectively.
Pascal's charity has provided aid to my daughter's orphanage, Zeleniy Gay.
Life2Orphans.org calls my daughter's orphanage, Green Forest Orphanage.
